When it comes to feeding cats, there are various ways to make sure they stay healthy. Finding the right food can be challenging, especially for those cats that are picky eaters. Here at 4 Paws Pantry & Spa, in our Olathe store, we recommend wet food. We carry high quality wet foods that provide complete and balanced nutrition, that is appropriate for their health, and specific dietary needs.

Feeding canned food to your cat offers several advantages over kibble. Listed below are 3 excellent reasons:

  • Canned cat foods tend to have 78% or higher moisture levels.  Cats need the high moisture content as they don’t typically have a high thirst drive.  If you are feeding your cat dry kibble, chances are they will not drink enough water to stay well hydrated.
  • The animal proteins in high quality canned diets have not been cooked at extreme temperatures, like dry kibble diets, so they retain a high biological value of the protein sources.
  • And finally, high quality canned cat diets have low amounts of carbohydrates, 3-5%, compared to dry kibble with 30-50%.  Cats do not require carbohydrates and in fact too many can cause numerous health issues.
